This term we will be learning about a variety of animals. We will learn about carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and what they eat. We will look at wild animals and pets. Why wouldn't we have lion as a pet? We will find out about where animals live using photos and videos.

Week ending 10/05/2024

 In Science this week we looked at all the groups that animals can be sorted into and the characteristics that make them part of this group. In math, we consolidated our understanding of division by sharing into groups. In Gymnastics, we have been learning how to do our tucks from different heights.

Week ending 03/05/2024

This week we have been looking at the groups animals can be sorted into. We had the chance to meet Cornflake our school snake, and dispel some myths that children have had about them. Lots of children overcame their fears by holding or petting the snake and realised that they are not scary.

Week ending 26/04/2024

This week we have continued with looking at carnivores, herbivores and omnivores and have had a try at sorting them into groups. We have also continued with our division and have used cubes and plates to divide equally. In P.E. we have looked at different rolls. Ask your child if they can name and show you the ones they have  done. Don't forget the mat. Have a lovely weekend and see you all Monday.

This week we have started our new science project, animals. We have introduced the children to some new vocabulary; carnivore, herbivore and omnivore. Ask them to see if they remember.

We have also started looking at division. As you can see, we need to do a little bit more to fully understand it. Well done year 1, an amazing first week back.
