Reading
I cannot promote reading enough. Even five minutes on busier days is amazing. It really does help with all aspects of the curriculum. Hearing your child, means you can pick up on words pronounced incorrectly, whilst also giving definitions of new vocabulary. Questioning your child about what is happening, helps to build understanding and encouraging your child to read fluently by modelling sentences yourself is also very powerful. As children read longer texts, they will be changed every fortnight. If they have finished before and have a secure understanding of the text, they are welcome to a book to share of their choosing to take home.
Every time your child reads at home, and it has been written in their diary, they will receive a token.
Happy reading Year 4!
